A key street by the Borders is to be closed to permit the foundations of a broken bridge to be strengthened after heavy rain.
The A702 might be closed in each instructions on Friday between 10am and 4pm.
A weight restriction is at the moment in place and short-term site visitors lights on the Westwater Bridge after excessive water flows precipitated security issues earlier this month.
It’s hoped that they are often eliminated on January 27, as soon as the concrete used on the foundations has reached its most power.
A 3-mile detour might be in place whereas the street is closed.
Chris Tracey, director of bridges for BEAR Scotland’s south-east unit, stated work had been accomplished to divert the river’s path away from the broken space.
Nevertheless, he stated a full street closure was wanted for the reinforcement work.
“The work we’re doing now will restore and strengthen the foundations of the bridge in order that we are able to take away the site visitors restrictions which are at the moment in place,” he stated.
“Additional work might be carried out sooner or later to make the construction extra resilient.
“We’re grateful to street customers and native residents for his or her endurance and understanding whereas we stock out these important works.”
